2 About this Web Site

This site was set up by Michael Katzmann and Michaela Platzer, residents of Barnaby Street, in order to facilitate the dissemination of information on the recent tree removal actions by PEPCO.

We welcome any comments to the postings, or new postings on any topic. Lets hear from you!

Naturally, good publishing etiquette is appreciated.

Viewing guide:

  • If you see a post ending with the (more…) tag, click on this to read the entire post.
  • Only the latest 25 postings are displayed by default.
To view older material, click, in the sidebar, the archive month, or category you wish to view. You will then see all the posts for that month, or topic.
e.g. clicking on the category Trees/Individual Trees will display the postings describing the individual threatened trees

  • To post a message, you must register by using the link on the lower right of this page. You need not register, however, to comment on a posting.

  • If you register and make a posting, you will automatically get an email, when someone comments on your posting.

  • A large and well established forum for discussing local issues in the Chevy Chase area, is the Chevy Chase Community Listserv. This is a ‘Yahoo’ group. It is moderated and restricted to members. To request membership, email ChevyChaseCommunityListserv-owner@yahoogroups.com. I will be mirroring much of the material found here on that group, to gain the widest possible audience for the issue.

Please feel free to contact me (michael), if you have any suggestions on ways to improve this site.

What a terrific job you did – thank you! Yesterday, Thursday, I saw many Asplundh trucks doing trimming in the neighborhood – Utah, and another street – I thought there was a moratorium, or is it only for Barnaby Street? Good work all of you who were active in this endeavor.

I believe that the stop work order applied to the removal of trees along this feeder (#14896).

Yes, I saw the crews aggressively pruning on 32nd Street yesterady (7th Oct).

Update….This note was posted on the Chevychase listserv (yahoo group) on Sunday 10th October:

According to DDOT, the moratorium on tree removal by pepco is extended
throguhout the neighborhood. Tree trimming will continue, though only
following notice to the neighbors. Adrian fenty
